Ventured to Siberia to see “The Pirates of Penzance” musical. After the opening number, I thought, “Oh God, intermission can’t come soon enough.” Womp womp.
Attended the world premier of the musical “Cardinal Sins.” For being in Federal Way (of all places), it was okay quality. But could they have chosen a duller subject than the Magna Carta? Snore…
Watched the musical Dreamgirls with Paul and Johnathon. Incredible showstopping voices all throughout! Consistently amazed how little ole’ Issaquah houses such a high quality theater company.
Attended a matinee performance of The Producers – A New Musical by Mel Brooks. Hilarious show with catchy songs and strong vocals/dance! For such a low ticket price, it offered well-polished student production value that rivaled some major professional tours.
Watched LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil. Incredible talent mixed in with cheap immature comic relief. Also, the depiction of Mexican culture was like eating Mexican food in Seattle. Okay show but not worth the drive to Siberia (Redmond).
Watched the stage adaptation of the Gershwin musical An American In Paris on Broadway. Every movement (even in the strictly acting portions with no music) was nuanced with ballet-like elegance. Very charming classic feel.
Watched the play “Frozen” (definitely not Disney). Offered a chilling glimpse into the mind of a pedophile serial killer, a vengeful grieving mother, and a flawed forensic psychologist. Where do you draw the line between innate evil and criminal insanity?
Attended the last performance of First Date The Musical. Definitely reeked of community theater quality but it’s still one of my favorite musicals so we’ll give this production a pass. Houston’s Theatre Under The Stars is always a tough act to follow.
Attended the intimate listening room concert of the incredibly taleted Hetty Kate and Casey MacGill. Polish food, wine, and great company with Luke in the Spitzs’ living room. Thanks for the invite Nich
