Watched “ZM” – an overly-cheesy developing musical about a zombie apocalypse caused by a new fast food burger. Unless there’s a weird cult following or a massive script overhaul, I don’t anticipate this going to the mainstage next year.
Best Hairspray version I’ve seen so far (out of 5). Will probably see again. It was interesting to hear Tracy with a more full-bodied (no pun intended) non-squeaky voice. Wish they could add the movie’s songs “Lady’s Choice” and “New Girl in Town.”
Evening performance of Love Never Dies (sequel to The Phantom of the Opera). Beautiful theme song! Act 1 started weak but Act 2 ended strong (seems to be the opposite of most musicals). — attending Love Never Dies at Paramount Theatre.
Sold out performance to the campy rock/motown musical Little Shop of Horrors. The trio chorus was out of this world! But it’s a shame they didn’t use microphones. The deliberately genderblind casting was surprsingly mostly okay. — attending Little Shop of Horrors at Reboot at Slate Theater.
