“Is God Is” at 12th Avenue Arts w/ Washington Ensemble Theatre. Vividly descriptive. Good fight choreography. Great acting. But couldn’t see beyond the violence & grasp the deeper meaning of this Afro Punk play. #revenge
“People of the Book” world-premire play by Yussef El Guindi at ACT Theatre. Simple delicious storyline & riveting dialogue. Cool scene transitions too. #merica #lies
Steel Magnolias at SecondStory Repertory. Good actresses & dialogue. But the script desperately needed better plot progression & more scene changes. Surprised that this play inspired 3 screen adaptations. #DrinkYourJuiceShelby #diabetes
Stage play adaptation of “Behold the Dreamers” at Book-It Repertory Theatre. Well-written captivating storytelling. Reminds me of the sacrifices my immigrant parents made to achieve the American Dream. Loved the juxtaposition between the rich & poor. Surprised that so many seats were empty at such a good play.
Stage play version of “Kim’s Convenience” w/ Taproot Theatre. Relatable to the Asian immigrant family experience. Also kinda racist (but in other ways not). Cool detailed set too. #Korean
