“True West” play at Seattle Repertory Theatre. Intricate set … albeit tiny. Deliciously dislikeable trailer trash brothers unsettlingly doing what you don’t want them to do. Unexpected (kinda senseless) ending. #siblings #siblingrivalry
“Dance Nation” at 12th Avenue Arts w/ Washington Ensemble Theatre. Great A/V, lighting, & lead dancers. Confusing soliloquy-like moments. Expected more cutthroat backstabbing drama. Disturbing nude locker scene, considering the adult actors played preteen characters. Wasn’t sold that they were all dancers.
Hershey Felder’s sold out “Monsieur Chopin” at Seattle Repertory Theater. Talented pianist performed songs (including a nocturne I can play) from my favorite composer. Surprised there were no etudes though.
Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” play at SecondStory Repertory. Strong primary actors especially Scrooge. Pleasantly surprised w/ the live music & singing. But not a fan of the cliche sentimentality & cuteness common w/ many stage renditions of this classic. #xmas #humbug
Jane Austen’s “Sense & Sensibility” at Shoreline Community College. Enjoyed this play more than I thought I would. Perhaps it was the gossipy busybody characters. But scene transitions were awkward & the puppetry should be omitted.
