Steel Magnolias at SecondStory Repertory. Good actresses & dialogue. But the script desperately needed better plot progression & more scene changes. Surprised that this play inspired 3 screen adaptations. #DrinkYourJuiceShelby #diabetes
Stage play adaptation of “Behold the Dreamers” at Book-It Repertory Theatre. Well-written captivating storytelling. Reminds me of the sacrifices my immigrant parents made to achieve the American Dream. Loved the juxtaposition between the rich & poor. Surprised that so many seats were empty at such a good play.
Stage play version of “Kim’s Convenience” w/ Taproot Theatre. Relatable to the Asian immigrant family experience. Also kinda racist (but in other ways not). Cool detailed set too. #Korean
“Tiny Beautiful Things” w/ Seattle Repertory Theatre. Well-performed emotional monologues & impressive memorization. But this play about a columnist needed less Oprah & Lifetime with more “Sex & the City.” #basic
“Take Me Out” w/ Strawberry Theatre Workshop. Nearly the entire male cast was naked at some point (very distracting). Good soliloquy style. Excellent climactic scenes of heightened emotion. But not quite sure what was the play’s message. #nudity #gay #lgbt
