“XY” developing musical at Village Theatre. Good intentions, mostly strong stage presence, & interesting talkback. Needed more intersex medical exposition. Half the show, I thought it was about a trans person! Also, too much of a downer. I guess all musicals can’t be tap dancing & jazz hands!
“She Loves Me” musical at Village Theatre. Beautiful set like Tiffany & Co. So much “old world elegance.” Charming pen pal love story was the inspiration for “You’ve Got Mail.”
“Bliss the Musical” at The 5th Avenue Theatre. Novel lagoon & fairy godfather (Mario Cantone) elements. Loved the traditional perfect Stepford Cinderella-like princesses. But the rah-rah girl power sisterhood snowflake message was overplayed 🙄. Also wish the hilarious butch lesbian princess was featured more.
